Kongsberg is the world`s leading provider of remote weapon systems and has to date delivered more than 20,000 PROTECTOR systems to more than 20 nations. The PROTECTOR family of Remote Weapon Systems includes multiple variants of  weapon stations (RS) and turrets (RT).

The PROTECTOR Family systems are suitable for any mission whether on land or at sea, on mobile or static platforms for remote operation of payloads ranging from small caliber weapons to medium caliber automatic cannons, and ATGM and SHORAD missile systems. All systems are utilizing the same baseline technology and are modular, flexible and expandable.

The PROTECTOR has been in full scale production since 1997 and is qualified for global operations. The design is mature and proven based on millions of hours of operational experience in combat zones, and developed and consciously evolved in close cooperation with Defence Forces worldwide.

The PROTECTOR is designed and built for operation in extreme environmental conditions, with capabilities that allow soldiers to operate effectively from a protected position or a remote location by using precision optics and weapons to observe, detect, and engage targets with high accuracy. This not only saves soldiers’ lives, but also reduces the risk for collateral damage significantly.

PROTECTOR RS4

The RS4 is the world’s most fielded remote weapon system with more than 20,000 units delivered and in use by customers around the globe.

PROTECTOR RS6

RS6 is a platform for integration of lighter medium caliber cannons in combination with machine guns and missile systems. RS6 is selected by un-disclosed customers for integration of multi-specter weapon systems.

PROTECTOR RS2

Protector RS2 is the most compact remote weapon system in the product portfolio and is the perfect choice for smaller tactical vehicles, robotic platforms and tactical support systems with weight restrictions. The RS2 offering full flexibility and modularity in an affordable system.

PROTECTOR RT

The PROTECTOR RT provides accurate firepower for wheeled and tracked combat vehicles. The system is the first remotely operated turret to be qualified and fielded within the U.S. Army. It is fielded in the US Stryker and selected for the USMC Amphibious Combat Vehicle Program. The RT is also designated as the “lethality” Government Furnished Equipment by the U.S. Army for the medium variants of the Service’s nascent Robotic Combat Vehicle program.

A framework structure with a ballistic shelter protects the crew and vital parts, and function as the base for integration of add-on protection systems, radios, threat detection sensors, smoke grenades, small UAVs, etc.

PROTECTOR RS4, special design for low profile

The RS4 variant for low profilet provides a reduced height signature. The low profile variant is fielded on the US Army M1A2 Abrams MBT as a commander`s RWS and sight.

PROTECTOR RS4 NAVALIZED

The Navalized Remote Weapon System has the same performance and flexibility as the standard RWS, but has a surface treatment and other components that is specially designed for use in a blue sea environment. The system can interact with the vessels bridging system and become a part of the holistic sensor and defence system.

KONGSBERG has a dedicated Through Life Support (TLS) organization providing thorough and proactive support for all products within the PROTECTOR family, when and where our customers need it. The TLS is designed to provide maximum availability and life cycle cost predictability. Dedicated key account managers ensures a professional follow-up.
The support concept includes Basic Logistics Support for continuous and recurring services, and Extended Logistics Support for on demand services.
