About Scott Safety

Founded in 1932 by Earl M, Scott, Scott Safety started as an aviation components manufacturer based out Mr.Scott's garage in Lancaster, New York.  The company's first product was a pivoting tail wheel for aircraft, which meant airplanes' tails no longer had to scrape along the runway on an iron rod - and this malleable iron "skid shoe" was relegated to history.

Today, more than 80 years later, Scott Safety continues to be a leader in innovation with more than 34 products developed in the last five years. Now headquartered in Monroe, N.C. Scott Safety is a Tyco International company that generates more than $400 million in revenues annually, employs more 1,100 people worldwide and has operations in the United Kingdom, Finland, China, Australlia and Mexico.
